We Are Building for Scale, Says Food-Tech Startup

A Nigerian food-tech company, Food Online, has hit a significant benchmark in its first month of business—processing over 12,000 orders and generating substantial revenues for its partner restaurants. The startup, which launched less than 30 days ago, is taking a logistics-first approach, combining efficient delivery with customer-centric technology.

Market analysis by BlueWeave Consulting estimates Nigeria’s online food delivery sector could grow to USD 1.9 billion by 2031, rising at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.88% from 2025. With several foreign competitors having exited, the landscape has become more open for bold, homegrown innovators to stake their claim. During a press briefing in Abuja, Damilola Yusuf, the General Manager of Food Online, emphasized the company’s strategic ambition.

The startup connects users to a wide array of eateries, ranging from local kitchens to international chains. It offers features like real-time order tracking, multiple payment methods, and fast, consistent delivery. Victor Oni, Senior Business Development Executive at the company, also highlighted Food Online’s value to restaurant partners:

“Beyond customer success, Food Online is proving to be a valuable partner for restaurants by increasing visibility, driving consistent sales, and enabling digital transformation in an industry where many small-scale operators remain offline.”

With these early successes, the firm has its sights set on scaling up across Nigeria and eventually expanding into other African markets. Observers believe Food Online’s mix of local insight and scalable technology may help it become a standout in Africa’s digital economy.
