JANUARY 22, 2025
FAB West Africa - Exhibition Manager Statement - January 2025
As we enter 2025, there’s been an interesting update on the
significance of the food economy in Nigeria. New data has revealed that the industrial
food sector accounted for 56.88% of the €1.47 billion Forex allocation in
October 2024. We
believe this significant share underscores the sector’s heavy reliance on
imported raw materials and finished products to meet rising domestic demand.
While we’re talking figures, Nigerian Exchange Ltd stock
prices indicate that Nigeria’s F&B sectors collectively achieved a total
market capitalisation of US$6.98 billion (₦10.84 trillion) at the start of
January. And a Dataphyte infographic
has placed food, beverage and tobacco industries at the top of the table for
capacity utilisation of the manufacturing industry in Nigeria, accounting for 60.87%
in Q2 2024.
As
I mentioned last
month, we are looking forward to a busy first quarter in 2025 as we will be
attending ISM Cologne (February 2-5), Gulfood 2025 (February 21-25), Wine Paris
(February 10-12), and IFE in London (March 17-19). We aim to meet as many existing
and potentially new exhibitors for the FAB West Africa Exhibition as possible.
